From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to head next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the group reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
